New Delhi, June 8: The State Bank of India (SBI) is conducting SBI PO preliminary examination from June 8. The exam is further being held on June 9, 15 and 16, 2019 in online mode. As per the official dates, the exam is being held for four days. Candidates appearing for the prelims exam have to take the online test for three sections – English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. Candidates have to answer 100 objective type questions in 1 hour against 100 marks. Besides Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability, which have 35 questions each, the English section has 30 questions. However, each section has to be completed within the specified time limit of 20 minutes.

The bank will shortlist candidates, 10 times the number of total vacancies from prelims to mains exam. However, these 10 percent candidates will have to figure out in the category-wise merit list of prelims exam within the given capping of top 10 percent candidates. SBI PO mains exam is slated to be held on July 20, 2019 wherein selected candidates from prelims stage have to answer 155 questions against 200 marks in 3 hours. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude section has to be answered in 1 hour in which 45 questions have to be answered for 60 marks. In Data Analysis & Interpretation section, there will be 35 questions for 60 marks which has to be completed in 45 minutes, while General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness will have 40 questions against 40 marks and candidates will get 35 minutes. For English section, candidates will have 40 minutes to answer 35 questions against 40 marks.

Candidates also have to take descriptive test for 30 minutes which has two questions for 50 marks. This descriptive test is being conducted to test candidates on English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). Selection of the candidates from mains to the next phase of the selection will be based on category-wise merit list, which will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks in the mains exam, wherein the authority will shortlist candidates up to 3 times (approx.) of the category-wise vacancies for group exercise & interview.

For selection, the preliminary marks will not be considered for the final merit list, as it would be prepared considering the marks in main (both in objective and descriptive test) and the marks of GE & interview. However, candidates have to qualify both the stages of the exam - phase-II (mains) and III (GE & interview) separately.

SBI PO examination is held for recruiting eligible candidates as Probationary Officers across the different branches of the bank.
