NEW DELHI: Many states have reopened schools in India for Classes 9 to 12. States like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab have resumed physical classes. Some states still have to make a call on the reopening of schools. Alongside, the government is also prioritizing vaccination for teachers and school staff to combat the spread of Coronavirus.

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has recently held a meeting to review the status of schools reopening in India. The minister conducted the meeting with senior officials of the Department of School Education and Literacy. Most of the states have resumed offline classes for senior division only. Students of Classes 1 to 5 are still waiting for the reopening of schools in many states.
All the government and private schools are now following strict COVID-19 guidelines, which include the compulsory wearing of marks, sitting of one student on one bench only, proper sanitation, and so on. Read further to know the latest news about the school reopen in India here.

Many states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh have reopened the schools with strict compliance of COVID-19 protocols. Some states are yet to make a decision on the reopening of schools. Check the latest updates on when schools will reopen in India here.
The decision on resuming offline classes for 6 to 8 will be taken in District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting soon. The government has not announced any official dates regarding the same.

20 students and 10 teachers have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu after the state resumed physical classes for 9 to 12, according to the reports by India Today. Tamil Nadu has reopened schools on September 1, 2021.
Tamil Nadu government will take a decision on reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 8 on September 9, 2021, according to a report by Indian Express. The classes for 9 to 12 were resumed on September 1, 2021.
Karnataka Schools have reopened for Classes 6 to 8 on September 6, 2021. The schools are allowed to conduct offline Classes only in the districts where the COVID-19 positivity rate is below 2 per cent. Schools for Classes 9 to 12 have reopened in Karnataka on August 23, 2021.
After the prolonged closure of Schools, the offline classes in Delhi for 9 to 12 have resumed on September 1, 2021. The Class 6 to 8 school opening date 2021 in Delhi is September 8, 2021.
Schools in Tamil Nadu have resumed offline classes were resumed from September 1. The schools in Tamil Nadu have reopened for Classes 9 to 12 following all COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines. The government has issued SOPs which allow schools to functions with 50% attendance.

The primary schools in Karnataka may reopen soon in the state. While interacting with the students of Karnataka Public School, the Karnataka Primary & Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh said, "We are thinking about reopening schools for primary classes."

Assam is all set to reopen schools in the state today. Earlier, the education department had released detailed SOP's which include compulsory wearing of marks, thermal screening, etc.

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has allowed schools to reopen for Classes 10 and 12. The schools for Class 12 will reopen for vaccinated students and staff with 50 percent of the capacity. While students of Class 10 can attend the classes after the COVID test.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has recently said that the government has still not considered reopening of schools for Classes 1 to 5, according to a report by the Times of India.
The schools in Karnataka have already reopened for Classes 9 to 12 on August 23, while the Classes for 6 to 8 will resume from September 6.
As a sharp decline in the number of COVID-19 cases is observed in Uttar Pradesh, the government has resumed physical classes in the state. The Uttar Pradesh government has reopened the schools for classes 1 to 8. The classes for 6 to 8 have been reopened from August 23 while classes 1 to 5 were resumed from September 1.
As the COVID-19 situation in the state has shown a significant improvement, the Rajasthan government has resumed the physical classes in schools for students from September 1. All the Covid-19 related protocols are being strictly followed in all the schools.
The schools in Bihar have reopened for the students of Classes 1 to 8 on August 16, 2021. The state has resumed physical Classes with just 50 percent capacity in the classrooms.
The school in Delhi will reopen for Classes 8 from September 8, 2021. The schools in the state were reopened for Classes 9 to 12 on September 1, 2021. The government has earlier announced that the schools in Delhi will reopen in a phased manner.
