SMC elections postponed due to stakeholders demanded more time for submission of nomination
Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana shut schools. Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, Bihar cancel leaves of government employees.
All government and private schools in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts have been shut as a precaution, officials said on Thursday. Colleges in Jodhpur have also been ordered to remain closed.
The Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner issued an order that all schools in the district will remain closed from May 8 till 11.
A man was convicted of rape under the IPC and aggravated penetrative sexual assault under the POCSO Act. The special public prosecutor sought a “deterrent punishment”, noting the convict was a teacher and the minor’s guardian at school.
