Schools in Maharashtra reopen from today; Varsha Gaikwad wishes students on school reopening

Schools in Maharashtra have been reopened today for Classes 5 to 12 in rural areas and for Classes 8 to 12 in urban areas.

Download NowNEW DELHI: Schools across Maharashtra have reopened today (October 4) after months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. In rural areas, the physical classes have resumed for 5 to 12 while in urban areas schools reopened for Classes 8 to 12.
As per the instructions, schools have to arrange proper sanitation and basic facilities for the students who are attending physical classes. The Maharashtra government had already issued guidelines to the education officials to monitor the safe resumption of physical classes across the state.

Maharashtra School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad on Monday visited several schools to monitor the back to school situation. The Minister also interacted with the students and informed school management committees to keep a close watch on the classes which are being held in schools across the state with physical distance.

Varsha Gaikwad also urged students to share their experiences on the first day of school. She took to Twitter and said, “The first day is a day to be remembered, especially when it comes after a long wait. We want to share in your experiences of #Best1stDay. Varsha Gaikwad also posted several videos on Twitter while interacting with students. She also wished the students and parents on the first day of school reopening.
“Schools across the state are starting once again from today. Best wishes to the students and parents on this occasion! I firmly believe that you will spend your first day of school in a safe and happy environment,” she said in a tweet.

On Saturday, Gaikwad held a meeting with the state education department and instructed the education officers of the state to personally visit schools and monitor the school reopenings.
