NEW DELHI, JUNE 1: The Department of Public Health Dentistry at Sharda University organized an awareness campaign on the ill-effects of tobacco addiction. The programmes were conducted on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.
The students and faculty from the institute carried out a series of plays, stand-up skits, dance shows and flash mobs at the Great India Place in Noida to raise awareness on the issue. The programmes aimed at informing people about the adverse effects of tobacco consumption on health. It also disseminated information on a variety of treatments modalities and remedies.
“ Our students and faculty members have been reaching out to people and organising health check-up camps and workshops. So far we have reached out to 40,000 people across more than 12 cities in India,” said Dr Swati Sharma, Staff-In-charge, Department of Public Health Dentistry.
For the next phase of this Community Social Responsibility initiative, Sharda University is sending a team of 50 students and interns along with faculty to other parts of the state for the campaign.
