NEW DELHI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology - SRMIST, has cancelled the SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE 2020) for B.Tech admissions. The university has put out a release where it stated that the exam was being cancelled in the light of challenges posed by COVID 19 and the safety concerns of students and parents.

SRMJEEE 2020 was scheduled to be held in 127 Indian cities and 5 overseas centres in Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Bahrain and Kuwait.

B. Tech admissions for 2020 in SRM University will now be on the basis of class 12 / Pre-University / Equivalent. The marks scored by students in their class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology will be considered for the B.Tech admissions.

The new admission guidelines will apply to all campuses of SRMIST namely Kattankulathur (Main Campus), Ramapuram, Vadapalani and NCR New Delhi; SRM University, AP – Andhra Pradesh; SRM University Haryana, Sonepat; and SRM University Sikkim.

Candidates who have appeared in JEE Main and SAT can also apply on the basis of their JEE Main or SAT scores. The application forms are available on the university website. (srmist.edu.in) and candidates can fill the marks obtained in their class 12 / Pre-University / equivalent. JEE Main January candidates and SAT qualified candidates can also apply and enter their scores.

Candidates whose results are yet to be declared can also apply and enter their marks once the results are declared.

The SRMJEEE scholarships also stand cancelled this year on account of the exam cancellation. However, deserving candidates who have scored high in JEE Main or SAT can apply for the scholarships available to them.

Over 1.5 lacs aspirants apply every year for SRMJEEE to avail admissions to the B.Tech engineering degree program.

Classes for the fresh students are scheduled to commence in September 2020 as per the government norms. Classes may be on campus, on-line or combination of both after considering the safety and security of students and in accordance to the guidelines issued by the government.
