NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the SSC stenographer registration process for recruitment of approximately 2,006 vacancies. The SSC stenographer exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in October - November. Candidates who have skills in stenography are eligible to apply for the vacancies through the official website, ssc.gov.in.

The computer-based test (CBT) will be held for recruitment to the “posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, NonGazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) in various ministries, departments, organizations including their attached offices, subordinate offices and statutory bodies of the Government of India located in various states and Union Territories”.
The last date to apply for SSC Stenographer is August 17 up to 11 pm. Applicants will have to pay Rs 100 as registration fee. However, female candidates and those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-servicemen (ESM) are exempted from payment of fee.
The online portal to pay the registration fee will be closed at 11 pm on August 18 and the window to make corrections in the submitted application form will be opened on August 27.
How to apply
The commission instructed all candidates to generate their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website, ssc.gov.in, as the old SSC websites, ssc.nic.in is not functional anymore.
Subsequent to OTR, candidates will have to proceed to fill the application for the examination. “Once an OTR has been generated on the new website, it will continue to remain valid for all the examinations to be applied for on the new website,” it said.
While filling the application, candidates are required to upload a scanned image of their signature in JPEG, JPG format with file size between 10 to 20 KB. Image dimension of the signature should be about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).
“Applications with inappropriate photographs or blurred/ miniature photographs or signatures, not meeting the above requirements, will be rejected summarily,” it added.

SSC Stenographer 2024 schedule
The SSC Stenographer CBT exam will have objective type questions only. The question paper will be set in both English and Hindi. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Here’s the complete schedule for SSC Stenographer exam 2024.
