Rhodes Scholarship 2026: Application opens for Indian students applying to Oxford University

Oxford University: Only six scholars will be shortlisted for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026. Students between the age group of 18 to 23 are eligible to apply.

Oxford University: The Rhodes Trust has started accepting applications for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026 for students willing to study at Oxford University. A total of six scholars will be shortlisted for the scholarship. Students between the age group of 18 to 23 or up to 27, in particular criteria are eligible to apply for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026.

Students who fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply for a fully funded, full-time postgraduate award at the University of Oxford by submitting the documents required and applying for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026. The Rhodes Scholarship 2025 application process will close on July 23, and the reference deadline is August 7.

“The Rhodes Scholarship continues to seek out exceptional young leaders from India who demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to service, and the potential to drive positive change in the world,” said Sir Richard Trainor, the interim warden of Rhodes House and CEO of The Rhodes Trust.

How to apply for Rhodes Scholarship 2026?

Students willing to study at the University of Oxford have to apply for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026 before applying for their chosen courses at the university. There’s no application fee to apply for the scholarship, and the submission of the application has to be done online.

The list of important documents required for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026 is as follows.

  • Birth certificate or valid passport
  • Indian passport or equivalent proof of Indian citizenship (PIO/OCI not accepted)
  • University/college transcript showing academic grades
  • Class 10 and 12 marksheets (or equivalent)
  • For applicants not currently studying in India: Proof of at least four years of formal study in the last 10 years, and proof of completion of Class 10 or 12 in India
  • Completed CV section within the application form (includes academics, leadership, volunteering, awards, etc.)
  • Recent headshot photograph in JPG format.

Rhodes Scholarship 2026: Selection process, timelines

According to the official Rhodes Scholarship statement, applicants will first be checked for their eligibility and completeness, and a list will be prepared. In September or October, the shortlisted applicants will be invited for preliminary interviews, which will be held either in person or via video conference, and then a semi-final interview might also be conducted. In November, a final interview and social engagement event will be held.
