NEW DELHI, MAY 1: Suncity School, Gurgaon, represented India at the 10th International Children’s Folk Dance Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. The International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) organised the annual event in association with UNESCO.
Students from Northern Cyprus, Russia, Estonia, Turkey, Macedonia, Mexico, India and Pakistan participated in the festival. The participants showcased folk dance and folk music of their respective countries.
The 14-member Suncity team performed the dance forms of Bihu, Ghoomar, Dandiya, Santhal, Garba, Bhoomi Pranam, Pushpanjali Aran, Tarana, etc. They also took part in the National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations, a day dedicated to children by the Turkish Republic’s founder, Kemal Ataturk.
CIOFF Secretary Kagan Tiftik along with the Head Mayor of 39 districts and City Mayor Calik graced the occasion.
