NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu government has decided to conduct the December semester exams for all state universities including engineering, arts and science and polytechnic in online mode. As per the state higher education minister K Ponmudy, Tamil Nadu universities will hold the semester exams online from February 1 to 20.
“In view of the Covid-19 situation, we have changed our decision to conduct offline exams for college students. To avoid any delay in graduating for final year students, the state universities will conduct semester exams in online mode from February 1 to 20, 2022,” Tamil Nadu higher education minister K Ponmudy told the reporters.
However, he said that the Tamil Nadu government will try to conduct the final semester exams, which will fall in June or July 2022, in offline mode depending on the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

He also asked the universities to make sure there are no malpractices during the online semester exams and requested students to not indulge in any unfair practices.
A week back, the Tamil Nadu government announced that the university semester exams slated for this month-end have been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 situation. Before the state government’s decision, the University of Madras postponed all semester exams scheduled to begin from January 21.
Tamil Nadu schools were shut for classes up to Class 9 on January 5 to tackle the rising coronavirus cases, CM MK Stalin said.
