TCG CREST Kolkata opens registration for PhD admissions 2026; apply by April 15

TCG CREST (deemed university) Kolkata has opened registration for admission to its PhD programmes 2026. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the PhD research in interdisciplinary and emerging areas through the official website at tcgcrestdtbu.ac.in/phd-programme.

The PhD programme is designed to help scholars take on real-world challenges through innovation and advanced scientific work, the institute said in an official statement.

Candidates can apply for the research programme by April 15, 2026, and the new batch will begin classes in August 2026.

The PhD programme will be offered across several schools, including mathematics and computer sciences, natural sciences, and health,environment & sustainability studies, giving students a wide choice of research areas.

TCG CREST admission process and funding support

The admission process will involve multiple stages. Depending on the discipline, candidates may have to appear for a written test, followed by a personal interview. Final selection will be based on overall performance and research potential.

Students who are selected will receive financial support in the form of a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), which can later be upgraded to a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). In addition, scholars will get an annual contingency grant and support for attending conferences, workshops and training programmes, both in India and abroad.

TCG CREST research centres and opportunities

The institute also offers access to a strong research ecosystem with several centres of excellence. These include facilities focused on neuroscience, quantum engineering, artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, food technology and cancer research, allowing students to work across disciplines.

The institute added that the programme aims to encourage meaningful research and innovation, while giving students the support and exposure needed to grow as researchers.
