Telangana Inter 2026 admissions extended till August 31; TGBIE issues instructions to junior colleges

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has extended the admission schedule for first-year intermediate courses for the academic year 2026-27 till August 31, 2026. The board issued a notification asking principals of affiliated junior colleges to follow the revised admission schedule and reservation guidelines.

The extension applies to government, private aided, private unaided, cooperative, Telangana residential, social welfare residential, tribal welfare residential, model, KGBV, TGMREJC, BC Welfare, incentive junior colleges and composite degree colleges offering the two-year Intermediate course.

The board has directed colleges to make Telangana Inter admissions according to the rules in force. Colleges have also been instructed not to conduct any entrance test for admissions. Admissions should be based on Grade Point Average (GPA), subject-wise Grade Point (GP) for previous students and marks obtained in the qualifying examination, as applicable.

TGBIE has directed junior colleges to follow the prescribed reservation policy. The category-wise reservation mentioned in the notification is as follows:

The notification also states that 33.33%, or one-third, of the total seats should be reserved for girls category-wise in colleges where separate colleges are not available for girls.

Telangana Inter admission 2026: Instructions for students

Students seeking admission after a gap period will have to obtain a local candidate/residential certificate for the gap period from the local Tahsildar, according to the notification.

The board has further instructed colleges to incorporate the mother's name instead of the father's name for Jogini children, as recorded in the qualifying examination records.

The notification also directs colleges to follow the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. A copy of the submitted Form-II, earlier known as Form A, must be forwarded to the jurisdictional police station within 24 hours of admitting a foreign national or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

TGBIE has directed unaided junior colleges to make admissions only up to the sanctioned sections and a maximum strength of 88 students in each section. Colleges have been warned against admitting students to combinations dropped by the board.

Admissions to additional sections can be made only after permission is issued by TGBIE. Any violation may invite action, including a penalty and disaffiliation of the college.

Colleges have also been asked to prominently display the number of sanctioned sections, seats filled and vacant seats at the entrance of the institution. This information has to be updated on a daily basis during the admission period.

Anti-drug declaration mandatory

As part of the admission process, TGBIE has directed all principals to implement a mandatory anti-drug declaration for both students and parents. The instruction is part of the measures to be followed during admissions for the 2026-27 academic year.

The board has also directed colleges to take measures to ensure the security of girl students.

TGBIE has advised parents and students to take admission only in affiliated junior colleges. The list of affiliated colleges is available on the official TGBIE websites mentioned in the notification.
