NEW DELHI: The Tripura Board will promote the students of Classes 1 to 4, 6, and 7 to the next higher classes. The examination of respective classes will be conducted once the school will reopen to ensure the evaluation. The decision has been made due to the substantial increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The Education Minister of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath, announced the same on his Twitter handle.

"We have decided to promote students from Class 1 to 4, 6 and 7 to next classes except Classes 5 and 8. But the students need to sit for their examinations after the opening of schools if the situation becomes normal. The exams would be held to evaluate their educational loss in the Covid-19 pandemic", said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Regarding Class 5 and 8, Nath said that they would send the matter for approval from the state cabinet, and for Class 9 and 11 examinations, decisions would be taken following discussions with the Tripura Board of Secondary Education, the report added.

Summer vacations in Tripura extended

Apart from the promotion to the higher classes, the Education Minister also announced the extension of summer vacations in the school. The summer vacation in the Schools of Tripura has now been extended from May 25 to June 7, 2021, on account of the rising cases in the state.

The Education Minister said to Twitter, “Summer vacation for school students has been extended from May 25 to June 7 keeping in view of the rising trend of COVID cases in the state.”

Earlier this week, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has launched an education channel 'Vande Tripura' for school students. This education channel is in line with the NCERT and will help students to make up for the lost learning time during the pandemic.
