NSPGS Merit List: A total of 5,000 students have been selected from each stream, humanities and science.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has published the merit list for the National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies (NSPGS) for the academic year 2023-24. A total of 10,000 students, comprising 5,000 from Science and 5,000 from Humanities, have been selected for financial assistance under the NSPGS scheme.
The National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies (NSPGS) was introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to support meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The NSPGS aims to encourage higher education by providing financial aid to students pursuing their first postgraduate degree in India.
Under the NSPGS scheme, a total of 10,000 scholarships are granted annually, with equal slots allocated for science and humanities students. The selected candidates will receive financial assistance of Rs 1,50,000 per annum for 2 years.
The ‘National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies’ is available for students enrolling in their first postgraduate degree through a regular, full-time mode. Applicants who have already earned a PG degree are ineligible.
As per UGC guidelines, students pursuing integrated programmes will receive funding only for the postgraduate component of their course.
As per the NSPGS eligibility criteria, candidates are also required to be below 30 years of age at the time of admission.

The UGC and NSP portal will update regarding disbursement of funds and further procedures in due time. The financial assistance under NSPGS will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
