The University Grants Commission has launched the UGC academic job portal for all candidates who have cleared the SET, NET exam and have completed their PhD.
NEW DELHI: In a move that will benefit a large number of job seekers who have cleared their National Eligibility Test, State Eligibility Test exams and have completed their PhD, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a job portal - ugc.ac.in/jobportal. The UGC job portal will enable candidates to register themselves by providing the required details and search for the suitable jobs.

The UGC Job portal also provides an opportunity to the employers to register and browse through the profiles of candidates and shortlist them for the requisite position. Both the candidates and employers would have to create their profile before proceeding for the next step.
Type of jobs available on UGC academic job portal
The UGC academic job portal presently shows teaching vacancies that are available at various colleges and universities. Candidates will also be able to check the eligibility criteria for the job that they are applying for. In addition, the UGC portal will be updated at a later stage to provide details related to non-teaching vacancies.
Advantages of the UGC Job Portal
One of the biggest benefits of the UGC academic job portal is that now candidates will be able to find the details of all the vacancies on one particular site and would not have to visit the websites of multiple colleges and universities to hunt for jobs. Secondly, it would make the recruitment process fair and transparent. The employers including private colleges and universities will be able to scan through a pool of applications and data at the job portal.
It was in February 2021, that the UGC had asked all the central and state universities to fill all the information pertaining to the teaching and non-teaching vacancies.
