NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all stakeholders to send their comments and suggestion on the draft guidelines framed for the admission process of international students under the National Education Policy 2020 for attracting international students o pursue higher education in India. The suggestions can be sent to UGC at policyfeedbackugc@gmail.com till September 5, informed UGC in a public notice.
The UGC framed the guidelines for admission and creation of supernumerary seats for international students with the intention to facilitate the internationalisation of the Indian higher education institutions. "These guidelines have been framed to facilitate a smooth and simple admission process for international students, to create a favourable environment for attracting international students to Indian higher education system and to make India a preferred destination for international students," said the notice from UGC.

Recently, UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar said that the higher education institutions across India can create up to 25 percent supernumerary seats for foreign students in their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He further informed that there will be any entrance tests for these admissions.
