University of Bath: Admissions open for UG sports courses; eligibility, fee structure

University of Bath, England is offering admissions to various UG courses such as BSc in health and exercise science, sport and exercise science, and sport management and coaching.

NEW DELHI: The University of Bath, England has opened applications for BSc sports courses for the academic year 2024-25. The university’s Department for Health offers various UG programmes such as BSc health and exercise science, BSc sport and exercise science, and BSc sport management and coaching.

The last date to apply for the sports UG programmes is January 31, 2024. Interested students can apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service in the UK (UCAS). As per the registration process through the UCAS, students will have to submit a personal statement, a teacher’s reference, and other information in the portal.

The fee for Indian students applying for the 2024 academic session is 28,800 pounds per year. The university stated that the students in their placement year will have to pay 8,000 pounds.

University of Bath: Eligibility criteria for UG sports programmes

  • Students must have an average of 80 percent in any of the four subjects from either the CBSE or CISCE boards.

  • For the BSc sport and exercise science programme students must have scored 85 percent marks in mathematics or science.

  • The university accepts psychology as a science, but physical education is not accepted as one of the four subjects. “A level or the International Baccalaureate Diploma entry requirements are also available on each course page” the university stated.

  • Students studying in the CBSE, ISC, or CISCE boards in Class 12 require 75 percent in English. The University also accepts IELTS, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic), and TOEFL IBT.

According to the university, the courses will help students learn about the science of sport, exercise and health, coaching, management, leisure and physical activity, and how the body works.

The graduates from these sports-related courses will be able to opt for graduate study and can apply for various roles in sports coaching, sports media, marketing, performance analysis, or physical education teaching as per the university.

The University of Bath said, “ Many students on these courses do a placement or study abroad year, with the support of dedicated Placement Officers. Previous placement providers for these courses included organizations like UK football clubs, the Commonwealth Games Federation, and research institutes. Bath is also home to students combining their studies with elite-level sport, they are supported by the £35 million Sports Training Village.”
