University of Birmingham announces 125th anniversary scholarships for Indian students

NEW DELHI: The University of Birmingham has announced scholarships for Indian students during its 125th anniversary celebration. The initiative aims at promoting international education and to honour the academic achievements of outstanding students, the university said.

The scholarships for postgraduate taught (PGT) master's degrees offered by the Birmingham University for Indian students will range from 4,000 pounds to 5,000 pounds. The allocated funds are for programmes starting in September 2025.

Making the announcement during the 125th anniversary event, Adam Tickell, vice-chancellor of University of Birmingham, said: “The university has always attempted to address global issues and promote a brighter future, and this milestone underscores that goal. We are proud to deepen our ties with India by offering these scholarships. They represent our long-standing commitment to empowering global talent and advancing knowledge to address the challenges of the future.”

Scholarships for Indian students

Below given is the list of scholarships offered by Birmingham University for Indian students.

125th Anniversary Scholarships -

• 4,000 pounds will be awarded for all eligible Indian students enrolling in most postgraduate master’s programmes, excluding MSc Management, MSc International Business, MSc Marketing, or MBA.

• 5,000 pounds will be awarded for high-achieving students selected through the India chancellor's scholarship programme, applicable to all master’s degrees, including business disciplines.

There will be no cap on the number of 4,000 pounds scholarships. However, only 50 scholarships will be granted based on academic merit for high-achieving students. Students will have to apply for these scholarships by the end of May 2025.

Chancellor’s scholarships 2025 - A total of 15 awards of 6,000 pounds each will be given to selected students applying for postgraduate taught master’s programmes. Applicants will be selected based on the academic merit and excellence demonstrated in the application process.

MBA scholarships - Up to 15,000 pounds will be awarded for outstanding candidates applying for the purposeful leader MBA programme. Additional scholarships of up to 10,000 pounds for responsible business MBA applicants has also been announced.

India high fliers UG scholarships - There are only limited scholarships for Indian students applying for undergraduate (UG) programmes. The financial aid will be provided based on academic merit and nominations from schools or agent partners.
