University of Hyderabad hosts delegation from 21 German universities to promote academic collaboration

NEW DELHI: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) hosted a delegation from 21 German universities led by vice-chancellors and vice presidents, through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) on March 18. The visit of delegates from Germany aims to foster Indo-German academic partnerships and promote the internationalisation of higher education.

The director of DAAD Katja Lasch and DAAD general secretary Kai Sicks were also a part of the delegation.

B J Rao the vice chancellor of UoH welcomed the delegates and shared about the university's mission, academic strengths, and global collaborations. He further emphasized the importance of international collaboration and the potential for combined degrees within the existing frameworks.

“Brahmanandam Manavathi the director of the office for international affairs presented the history and current activities of internationalization at UoH. He highlighted the university's Study in India programme, which began in 1998 with just 8 students,” the UoH statement added.

UoH, German delegation identify areas of collaboration

Additionally, the UoH faculty members showcased the ongoing research projects to the German delegation. The delegation identified key areas to improve strategic and academic cooperation including –

• Joint research projects and research collaboration
• Double and dual degree opportunities and international curriculum development aligned with NEP 2020
• Viable financial models for student and faculty exchanges
• Regulatory changes facilitating joint degrees with international universities

“To explore potential research collaborations, the delegation visited the facilities at Aspire BioNest, School of Life Sciences; School of Engineering Sciences and Technology, School of Physics, Electronics, Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences and; School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Computer and Information Sciences, School of Management Studies, School of Economics,” the UoH statement said.
