UoH professor Bellamkonda Raja Shekhar appointed vice-chancellor of Yogi Vemanna University

Hyderabad University professor Bellamkonda Raja Shekhar has served as senior professor and has held several key administrative positions in his 26 year service.
A senior professor at the University of Hyderabad, Bellamkonda Raja Shekhar has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Yogi Vemanna University, Kadapa, for a period of three years.
Shekhar joined the UoH in 1999 and has been guiding the School of Management Studies for its growth in management education.
He did his BTech Civil Engineering from Acharya Nagarjuna University in 1990, four master’s degrees in business administration from Osmania University, psychology from Sri Venkateswara University, education from IGNOU, and date science and engineering from BITS Pilani in 2025.
Moreover, he also holds three doctoral degrees in management from Kakatiya University, psychology from Sri Venkateswara University, and education from Dr BR Ambedkar Open University.
Shekar has held several key positions at the Hyderabad University , including pro-vice-chancellor, registrar, dean of the School of Management Studies, dean of students’ welfare among other administrative positions.

“As Dean of SMS, he was the driving force behind launching the MBA programme in Business Analytics, one of the first of its kind in the country — setting new benchmarks in management education and aligning academic learning with emerging industry needs,” the university said.
He also played a significant role in formulating schemes and syllabi for the Telangana State Public Service Commission, reflecting his commitment to public service and institutional development, it said.
“This appointment is a fitting recognition of Prof. Shekhar’s visionary leadership, academic brilliance, and unwavering commitment to higher education. Over the past two and a half decades, he has played an instrumental role in shaping the academic and administrative excellence of the University of Hyderabad, inspiring both colleagues and students alike,” the official statement from UoH read.
