NEW DELHI: The University of Wollongong India (UOW India) has rescheduled the commencement of classes for its Master of Computing program from August 5 to November 4, 2024. The decision to reschedule classes came in response to recent severe monsoon weather and water logging, resulted in substantial delays in connecting essential services to campus building.

The decision of postponement in the commencement of classes has been taken for the safety and well-being of students. "Due to the unforeseen difficulties caused by the ongoing extreme weather, delaying the start of classes was in the best interest of our students", the official press release read.

UOW India Campus Director Nimay Kalyani said the University has instead organised a series of events to give students an experience of campus life in the lead up to the November launch.

UOW India to deliver a series of masterclasses for students

In late August, students and their families can tour the campus, attend masterclasses and see the facilities at UOW India.“In the interim between UOW India taking possession of the campus later in August, our team is excited to deliver a series of masterclasses and hands-on experiences for students,” Kalyani said.

These events encompass open days, industry events, networking opportunities, and more, allowing students to engage directly with staff, professors, and industry experts. They will offer current and prospective students an in-depth experience of the innovative and dynamic environment at UOW India.

"We are currently in discussions with various industry leaders from the tech, banking, aviation, and finance sectors to ensure a diverse lineup of events that will enhance the student experience and foster valuable networking opportunities", Kalyani added.

The adjustment of program dates will also align the academic calendar, optimizing the student experience by synchronising the intakes for both Computing and FinTech courses in November.
