UP Teacher Recruitment 2020: 31,277 candidates to be issued appointment letter on October 16

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Government on the directives of CM Yogi Adityanath, has released the list of 31,277 candidates who have been selected for the post of Assistant Teachers in government schools in the state, thereby bringing an end to the long wait. The authorities will commence the counselling process for the selected candidates from October 14. Earlier, the government announced UP teacher recruitment 2020 for 69000 vacancies in the government schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Out of the total 31,277 selected candidates, 15,933 are general category candidates, 8,513 OBC, 6,615 SC and 216 are scheduled tribe candidates. The counselling process for UP teacher recruitment will be conducted on October 14 and 15, whereas candidates will be given appointment letter on October 16.
What did the High Court and Supreme Court say about UP Teacher Recruitment?
On January 7, 2019, the authorities revised the passing criteria for the recruitment examination to 65% (97 out of 150 marks) for general candidates and 60% (90 out of 150 marks) for reserved category candidates. Students took the matter to the court and the court passed the verdict in favour of the students setting the passing criteria to 45% for general category candidates and 40% for reserved candidates.
Further on May 6, 2020, the High Court upheld the state government’s revised criteria which was 65% for general category and 60% for reserved category. After the announcement of UPTET result, the counselling process for the announced 69000 vacancies was scheduled to be held from June 3 to 6. However, on June 3, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court put a stay on the entire UP teacher recruitment process for 69,000 teachers.
Next, the candidates took the matter to the Supreme Court, which issued an interim order to fill 31,277 posts. The court also stated that the remaining posts should be filled later after the final verdict of the apex court.
