The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has launched a scholarship scheme to provide 1,000 tuition fee waivers or freeships to women for its MBA programme. The scholarship, named “1,000 Women - 1,000 Dreams”, will be provided to women from three chosen or priority groups.

According to an official statement, the university will provide 300 scholarships to women, including those from the Armed forces backgrounds. This category includes serving women personnel from the army, navy and air force, as well as spouses and daughters of serving or retired personnel, it added.

Interested applicants can apply for the MBA programme at UPES through the official website at upes.ac.in. “It is launched to strengthen women’s strategic, financial, and leadership capability to progress into senior roles and build high-impact ventures,” the statement reads.

Moreover, UPES will also offer 250 scholarships for women in Tech and Start-ups. These will include women working in or funding technology companies or start-ups in India, the university said.

While, it will grant the rest 450 scholarships to women across India, including eligible UPES female staff and employees, as per the press release.

Giving insight about the scholarship, Sunil Rai, vice-chancellor, UPES, said: “Every woman deserves access to the tools that unlock leadership. With ‘1,000 Women – 1,000 Dreams’, we are removing cost as a barrier to ambition—whether that ambition is shaped by service to the nation, by building in high-growth sectors like technology and start-ups, or by the determination to take the next step in one’s career.”
