UPSC issues admit cards 2025 for LDCE, Officers’ Grade B, announces exam pattern for all categories

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the exam pattern for the Combined Section Officers’ Grade ‘B’ Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for the year 2025. The UPSC admit cards for the LDCE, Combined Stenos’ Grade B exam have also been issued on the official website, upsconline.gov.in.

The commission will conduct the competitive exam at nine exam centres across the country – Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar), Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram.

The exam is conducted for recruitment across various categories and the final vacancies have not been finalized yet.

  • Category I Section Officers’ Grade of the Central Secretariat Service
  • Category II Sections Officer Grade of the General Cadre of the IndianForeign Service, Branch ‘B’
  • Category III Section Officers’ Grade of the Railway Board Secretariat Service
  • Category VIII Section Officers’ Grade of the Intelligence Bureau
  • Category X Section Officers in Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service
  • Category XI Assistant Director/Section Officers/Manager Gr.I in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation.

UPSC LDCE, Officers’ Grade B 2025: Exam pattern

The objective-type paper will carry 150 marks and subjective-type will consist of 200 marks. The UPSC has announced the detailed exam pattern for the recruitment exam.

General studies and general knowledge of the Constitution of India and machinery of government practice and procedures in Parliament and knowledge of RTI Act, 2005

December 13 from 10 am to 12 noon

Procedure and practice in the Government of India secretariat and attached offices and general financial and service rules duly taking into account the requirement of relevant categories of services.

150 marks

December 13 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm

Noting and drafting, precis writing

200 marks

From 10 am to 1 pm

Qualifying short-hand test in Hindi or English at 100 word per minute (WPM) in respect of all the candidates competing for Categories IV, V, VI, VII, and IX


December 20, 27, 28 from 10 am onwards in batches
