UPSC CSE Prelims 2024: Exam centre change facility begins today for Imphal candidates

NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will begin the facility to change exam centres for candidates who opted Imphal in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) prelims 2024 today, April 8. Such candidates will be able to choose from 80 other centres through the official website, upsc.gov.in. The last date to make changes in UPSC CSE prelims 2024 exam centre is April 19.
“ Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination , 2024, is to be held on 16th June, 2024 across the country including Imphal Centre. In pursuance of the order dated 28/03/2024 of the Hon'ble Delhi High Court in W.P. (C) No. 3805/2024, the Commission has decided that the candidates who have opted Imphal (Manipur)' Centre, can choose any of the 80 notified Centres of the said Examination,” said UPSC in an official notice.
Besides the official website, applicants can also submit their request for centre change by calling on the toll free number or by emailing the commission at uscp-upsc@nic.in. The toll free number will be available on all working days from 10 am to 5 pm.
On receiving centre change requests from candidates, UPSC will allot the chosen centres to the candidates and send a message confirming the change of centres to the candidate’s registered mobile number.
UPSC CSE admit card 2024 for all candidates including these will be issued around one week before the exam.
Petition in Delhi HC
Recently, the commission told the Delhi High Court that it will allow UPSC CSE candidates from the hill districts of Manipur who opted for Imphal to change their centre and that the state government will facilitate their travel.
UPSC had said such aspirants can choose any of the centres in Aizawl, Mizoram; Kohima, Nagaland; Shillong, Meghalaya; Dispur, Assam; Jorhat, Assam; Kolkata, West Bengal; and Delhi. The Manipur government expressed its inability to open exam centres in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi for UPSC exams as demanded by students.
The commission submitted an affidavit in the Delhi High Court following a petition filed by Zomi Students Federation seeking setting up of examination centres in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi in Manipur for CSE prelims 2024 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) prelims 2024.
