NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will issue the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) preliminary notification today. The commission had earlier announced the UPSC CSE notification 2024 release date for prelims in the annual exam calendar 2024.

The UPSC CSE prelims online application form 2024 will be made available on the official website, upsconline.nic.in. As per the annual exam calendar, the UPSC CSE prelims registration last date is March 5. The UPSC civil service prelims exam 2024 will be held on May 26.

Last session, the commission announced to fill nearly 1,105 vacancies including 37 vacancies for persons with benchmark disability category. The first stage of UPSC CSE exam was held at 79 exam centres for prelims last year. The exam centres are allotted based on “first-apply-first allot” basis.

The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages - preliminary and mains exam. UPSC IAS prelims exam will consist of objective type for the selection of candidates for the Main examination. Civil Services Main will be descriptive, followed by an interview round for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.

As per the UPSC CSE age limit, a candidate should have attained the age of 21 years and should not have attained the age of 32 years as on August 1 on the year of applying.

Every eligible candidate will be given 6 attempts to clear the UPSC exam, one of the toughest exams. OBC and PwBD candidates will get 9 attempts. However, relaxation in number of attempts will be given to those belonging to SC, ST categories.
