NEW DELHI: Medical aspirants who want to make their careers in healthcare fields but did not appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 medical entrance exam have various alternative options. Paramedical courses after 12th without NEET allow students from the science stream to enter the healthcare sector through diploma and undergraduate programmes.
The admission criteria for paramedical courses can vary across institutes, but medical aspirants who have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects are generally eligible for these courses. Some medical institutions also conduct their entrance tests for these courses, but NEET is not mandatory.
Paramedical courses are specialised training programmes designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to assist medical professionals in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients. Students looking for 4-year medical courses without NEET can consider options in Bachelor’s of Science (BSc) programmes.
At the undergraduate level, courses such as BSc in medical laboratory technology (BMLT), radiology and imaging technology, operation theatre technology, anaesthesia technology, dialysis technology, optometry and medical record technology are offered without the requirement of NEET. Students seeking shorter courses can opt for diploma and certificate programmes such as diploma in medical laboratory technology (DMLT), operation theatre technology, radiology and imaging technology, dialysis technology, nursing care assistant, and certificate in ECG technology.
