WBCS 2019 Prelims exam postponed; admit card to be released on Jan 22

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 7: Public Service Commission, West Bengal, has postponed the preliminary exam of WBCS. According to the official notification, the exam will now be conducted on February 9, 2019 from 12 pm to 2.30 pm, whereas earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on January 20, 2019. Though the exam date has been shifted however, the authority has not cited any reason for the postponement of the exam. The admit card of WBCS Preliminary exam will be released on January 22, 2019.

WBCS admit card 2019 will be issued online to candidates who have successfully registered for the exam. To download the admit card, candidates will have to login using their first name and date of birth. The admit card will carry information regarding candidates as well as examination like date, time, details of exam centre etc.

According to the exam pattern, the preliminary exam will consist of only one paper on General Studies. The paper will have total 200 objective type multiple-choice questions from English Composition, General Science, Current events of National & International Importance, History of India, Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal, Indian Polity and Economy, Indian National Movement and General Mental Ability. The test will carry total 200 marks. The standard of paper will be of graduation level.

The preliminary exam is qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam will not be considered for final selection. Candidates qualifying the preliminary exam will be called for the mains exam.

West Bengal Civil Service (Exe) etc. Examination, 2019 is conducted for recruitment of candidates to Group A, B, C, D posts in West Bengal Civil Service (Executive), Assistant Commissioner of Revenue in the integrated West Bengal Revenue Service, West Bengal Labour Service, West Bengal Police Service etc. The exam comprises three stage selection process preliminary exam, mains exam and Interview.
