WBJEE 2025 LIVE: Subject-wise exam analysis for PCM; cut-offs, answer key updates

Candidates have to score a minimum qualifying cut-off score in both paper 1 and paper 2 to participate in the WBJEE 2025 counselling process. WBJEEB will issue the cut-off scores for both papers. 

A total of 35,000 seats are expected to be offered for admissions through the WBJEE 2025 exam.

WJEEB will conduct the WBJEE 2025 shift 2 exam for physics and chemistry paper from 2 pm to 5 pm today. 

As per the selection criteria for all BTech courses offered at Calcutta University, a candidate should have passed Class 10 and Class 12 from a recognized board with mathematics, physics, and chemistry as compulsory subjects. Students should have scored 60% aggregate marks and SC, ST and reserved category candidates should have scored 55% marks in all the three subjects taken together. They should also have passed English with a minimum of 30%.

The scoring methodology is entirely different for category 3 compared to categories 1 and 2. 

1. Each question will have one or more correct options. 
2. Two marks will be awarded for those who have marked all correct options. 
3. In case for any combination of answers, one or more incorrect answers will be treated as wrong and will be awarded zero marks. 
4. For partially correct answers, ie, when all right options are not marked and also no incorrect options are marked, marks awarded = 2 × (no of correct options marked) / total no of the correct option(s).
5. Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

The West Bengal JEE Board will calculate the marks for category 2 differently. The marking scheme for category 2 is given below.  

• Out of the four options, only one is correct. 
• Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer. 
• ½ marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. 
• For any combination of more than one option, even if it contains the correct option, the said
• answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks.
• Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

The WBJEE scoring methodology is different for category 1, 2, and 3. As per the information bulletin, the marking scheme for category 1 is given below. 

• Only one option is correct.
• The correct response will fetch one mark.
• -¼ will be deducted or 25% negative marks for each incorrect answer. 
• For any combination of more than one option, even if it contains the correct option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -¼ (25% negative) marks.
• Zero marks will be awarded for questions unanswered.

The WBJEE shift 1 exam for mathematics paper begins. Students will be given 2 hours duration to attempt the questions. The exam for WBJEE paper 1 will be held between 11 am to 1 pm.  

Students are prohibited from carrying the following items to the exam centre. 

• Written or printed textual material
• Calculator
• Pen
• Log table
• Wristwatch or smart watch
• Electronic devices, bluetooth,
• Mobile phones 
• Any other communication devices.

The WB JEE board has not officially announced any WBJEE dress code for male and female candidates. However, students are advised to avoid wearing heavy, full sleeves dresses. Male candidates are advised not to wear shoes with thick soles or sunglasses. 

WBJEE comprises two papers - paper 1 for mathematics and paper 2 for physics and chemistry.

• Candidates appearing in both paper 1 and 2 will be eligible for a General Merit Rank (GMR) and a Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). This means, such candidates will be considered for admission in all engineering and pharmacy courses. 
• Students appearing only for paper 1 will not be allotted any rank. 
• Those appearing in only paper 2 will be considered for admission into pharmacy courses, except at Jadavpur University.  

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board will be conducting the WBJEE exam in a single day in dual shift. This year, the WBJEE exam 2025 will be held on April 27, Sunday. 

West Bengal JEE 2025 question paper pattern and marking scheme for mathematics, physics, and chemistry sections are given below. 

The West Bengal JEE Board will hold the entrance exam in two shifts. The WBJEE reporting time for shift 1 and shift 2 will be one hour before the exam timings. Shift 1 will begin from 11 am and the entry gates are likely to be closed half hour before the exam. Students are required to reach the exam hall well in advance to avoid last minute hassle. For shift 1, students are required to reach the allotted centres by 10 am and for shift 2, at least by 1 pm. 

The WBJEEB has issued guidelines to be strictly followed by the candidates on the exam day. 

• Students are required to reach the exam hall at least 30 minutes before the exam, ie. at least by 10-10.30 am. 
• Candidates should carry the WBJEE admit card 2025 to be allowed entry inside exam hall. 
• Heavy layered, thick shoes, dresses with big buttons and full sleeves should be avoided. 
• Textual materials, electronic devices, smart watch, bluetooth, mobile phone are prohibited inside exam hall.

Over 1 lakh students appear for the West Bengal JEE entrance exam every year. A total of 1,13,492 appeared in the exam last year, of which a majority of 79,025 were boys and 34,467 were girls.

The WBJEE 2025 for engineering, pharmacy, and architecture admissions will be conducted as one-time OMR-based common entrance examination.

The WBJEEB will prepare merit ranks for WBJEE 2025 based on the candidates’ score in the Common Entrance Test. 

Students appearing for the WBJEE 2025 exam are required to wear comfortable clothes. As per the WBJEE dress code, candidates are advised to avoid wearing the following. 

• Should not wear any provocative clothes.
• Should not wear jewellery or ornaments or carry expensive items.
• Should not wear heavy layered clothes. 
• Lightweight shoes and sandals will be allowed. 

The West Bengal JEE Board will conduct paper 1 and paper 2 for engineering entrance exam. Paper 1 will be held for mathematics and paper 2 will consist of questions from chemistry and physics. 

Candidates appearing for the West Bengal JEE 2025 exam will have to mandatorily carry the WBJEE admit card 2025 download from the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee/, to the exam centre.
