NEW DELHI: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has announced to start the WBJEE counselling dates 2024 in a week for admission into engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses for qualified candidates. “We are prepared for counselling but we depend on 3 bodies - AICTE, Pharmacy Council of India and the Council of Architecture (COA). Once they complete paperwork and have the seat matrix, we'll start counselling in 7-10 days,” the official said while announcing WBJEE results.
There will be three rounds of WBJEE counselling 2024. After the round 1 seat allotment, students will be allowed to upgrade in the subsequent rounds depending on seat availability and merit. The council will also be holding a mop up round to fill vacant seats.
A total of 1,42,694 candidates appeared for the WBJEE 2024 examination this year. Of which, 112,963 candidates have qualified the exam by recording a pass percentage of 99.53%.
Through the WBJEE score, admission to engineering, technological, agriculture, pharmacy courses offered by different universities, government colleges, self-financing engineering and technological institutes in West Bengal for the academic session 2024-25 will be done.
“Seats are available for students listed in JEE (Main)- 2024, up to 10% of the approved seats in all self-financed engineering and technology colleges of West Bengal,” it said.
For admission to a five-year degree course in architecture, candidates should also qualify for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi.
For pharmacy, candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent exams recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and physics, chemistry, mathematics or biology as optional subjects individually. “Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations, will be eligible,” it said.
