West Bengal UG Admissions 2025: CAP portal to open on June 17 after prolonged delay

WB UG Admissions 2025: The West Bengal government will open the undergraduate (UG) admission 2025 portal on June 17 at 2 pm, after a prolonged delay. Admissions will be offered to 460 state-run and state-aided colleges under 17 universities. As per an official, the education minister, Bratya Basu, will be present at the launch of the centralised admission process (CAP) portal.

Candidates can choose more than one college and several subjects for West Bengal admissions 2025. Candidates will have the advantage of upgrading to a higher-ranked college based on the seat vacancy available during the WB admissions 2025.

Earlier, the West Bengal education minister informed that the admission process will commence before June 19. However, while responding to a query from an opposition MLA, the education minister said there has been no delay and the admission portal opened on June 19 last year.

WBCAP College Admission 2025

The WBCAP College Admission 2025 delay had prompted Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) to demand action, whereas the college principal also warned of academic disruptions, which could be a disadvantage for the entire semester system. The West Bengal board 2025 results were declared on May 7.

The delay was also linked to the state’s survey on Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation policy. The Calcutta High Court last year in May had set aside the previous formula, following which the state revised the OBC policy.

Basu previously said that due to some’ technical work’, the launch of the CAP admission 2025 portal has been delayed. He added: “If you remember, last year the online portal opened on June 19. And, the higher secondary exam results were announced on May 8. So if you compare with the proceedings last year, we are not late.” (With inputs from PTI).
