Will Engineering Entrance Exams now be conducted online?

NEW DELHI : With India under lockdown on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, most engineering exams have been postponed. With the imposition of Lockdown 2, holding these exams seems to be getting increasingly difficult considering the resources, efforts and time required to set up exam centres. So, many universities are now opting to hold their entrance exams online to ensure that the admission process goes smoothly and students can join as soon as the lockdown is lifted and things get back to normalcy.
Leading this trend are Jain University, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology and Christ University. Each has announced online entrance tests for students seeking admissions. Given below are details
Jain Entrance Test (JET) 2020
The university has announced that it will conduct its test as per the schedule, that is, on April 26. The only difference being that it now will be online instead of the regular one. The new process has two stages - an online test and a video interview.

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology has also announced that candidates will now appear for the online tests to be held between April 19 to 21, 2020. The slot booking for the same has commenced from April 11, 2020.
Christ University Entrance Test
The university had scheduled the test online on April 14, 2020 but it was postponed due to technical issues. Now, the revised schedule is awaited.
With the extension of the lockdown, institutions are growing concerned about scheduled examinations. However, there are concerns about whether these exams will be proctored, how students can be monitored and whether this is simply a way to ensure that seats do not go empty this year due to the delay in admissions.
