UPSC Postponed Civil Services Prelims Exam
NEW DELHI: Union Public Service Commission postponed the Civil Services Preliminary Exam, which is scheduled to be held on May 31, 2020 due to COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown situation across the country. Along with the same, the Indian Forest Services Prelims examination is also postponed. UPSC has released a notification mentioning that decision on fresh dates will be taken on June 5, 2020. Union Public Service Commission will also publish a fresh calendar for all the exams and pending notification after June 5.
Previously, due to 21 days lockdown in the country UPSC has postponed the NDA exam which was scheduled to be conducted on April 19 in offline mode. The official authorities also postponed the official notification of UPSC CMS which is scheduled to be released on April 8, 2020.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak across the country, the Central Government announced a 21 days lockdown on March 24 which has now been extended till May 31. There is a complete ban on travel and educational institutions in the country. Previously WHO has also announced COVID-19 as a global pandemic.
UPSC CSE is conducted for the recruitment of candidates in Indian Police Services (IPS) Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and Indian Forest Services (IFS) etc. The selection process of UPSC CSE comprises three stages - prelims exam, mains exam and interview.
