World University of Design honours Prof. Iftikhar-Mulk Chishti on National Design Guru Day

New Delhi, November 24 : World University of Design, felicitated and bestowed the title of ‘Design Guru’ on Prof. Iftikhar-Mulk Chishti, Architect, Designer, Educator, and Design Evangelist on 23rd November, 2018. The event was organized with the support of the NID Alumni and the Association of Designers of India. On the occasion, World University of Design.
Know Why November 23 is Important for Design Industry
November 23 is the birth anniversary of well-known design thinker and Guru Prof. M P Ranjan. Every year WUD pays tribute to the first generation of Design Gurus and highlights the role of Design Gurus who have pioneered design education and taught several generations of design students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor of WUD said, “Every year we pay tribute to the first generation of Design Gurus, who kick-started the design education in India by celebrating the National Design Guru Day.” On November 23, 2018, WUD felicitated Prof. Iftikhar Mulk Chishti, Architect, Designer, Educator, Design Evangelist.
Design Education - Growing Importance
Speaking further about the importance of design, Gupta added that “design today has emerged as the horizontal that cuts across all verticals in the industry. It is one discipline that binds various departments, specializations, products and services. Because of this, in today's world, it has become more essential than ever to have a practical knowledge of design.”
