Supply chain to disaster management: 20 new MBA courses by IIMs, IITs, universities

NEW DELHI: From an MBA in sustainability management by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai to a certificate course in operations and supply chain analytics by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, many premier business schools launched a host of certificate and degree programmes in management over the past year.

Included in the list of new launches are programmes in relatively-new branches for the discipline of management such as disaster management, sustainability, entrepreneurship and more. Many of these also come with the option of online or hybrid learning.

Given below is a list of courses launched by institutions across the country, along with their durations, eligibility conditions, and curriculum components.

DEGREES

MBA in Facility and Services Management

Institution: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Class 12 or equivalent

Course Description: This is a job-oriented programme, designed to acquaint the learner with the basic knowledge and skill set required to work in the facility management industry. Facility management ranges from property management to managing malls, monuments, health facilities, sports facilities, airports and other areas of supporting services.

MBA in Land Governance

Institution: Institute of Land and Disaster Management, University of Kerala

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Graduate with 50% marks, valid CAT, MAT or K-MAT score.

Course Description: The course is designed with a focus on management and governance of land resources and will teach students to face the complex challenges related to land use, land rights and sustainable development. This programme is offered in collaboration with the Kerala Revenue Department.

MBA in Disaster Management

Institution: Institute of Land and Disaster Management, University of Kerala

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Graduate with 50% marks, valid CAT, MAT or K-MAT score.

Course Description: Through this programme, students can gain expertise in risk assessment, disaster mitigation, and management of natural disasters such as earthquakes and man-made disasters. This programme is offered in collaboration with the Kerala Revenue Department.

MBA in River and Water Management

Institution: Institute of Land and Disaster Management, University of Kerala

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Graduate with 50% marks, valid CAT, MAT or K-MAT score.

Course Description: This programme is designed to teach students about sustainable management of rivers and water resources. This programme is also offered in collaboration with the Kerala Revenue Department.

Course Description: The curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in finance, marketing, strategy, and operations while also exploring topics related to sustainable business practices, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, and international business. This course was created in consultation with IIM Indore.

MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Institution: IIM Lucknow

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Graduate with valid CAT or GMAT score.

Course Description: This programme is intended for aspiring entrepreneurs who have ideas and aim to launch and manage their own ventures.

MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management

Institution: IIM Bodh Gaya

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Graduate with valid CAT score.

Course Description: In the second year of this programme, students can choose between hospital management and healthcare management. Hospital management covers courses related to the management and administration of various functions in hospitals and allied areas. Healthcare management covers courses related to public health, insurance, and pharmaceuticals.
