'Indo-German partnership stronger than ever': 80 German universities take part in DAAD jubilee celebration

NEW DELHI: Over 80 German higher education and research institutions will visit India this month. The institutions will engage in university visits, the inauguration of the German School of Technology at PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, APAIE Conference 2025, which is taking place from March 25 to 27 and DAAD will be present at the German pavilion with delegates from 70 universities.

The Indo-German Forum: Research, Innovation and Transfer and DAAD’s Jubilee celebrations will be held in the presence of German ambassador Philipp Ackermann in New Delhi.

The events will strengthen academic ties, foster global learning environments, and contribute to scientific and academic development. The German universities will expand the collaboration for educational and research partnerships with India.

The German ambassador to India and Bhutan Philipp Ackermann said: “The Indo-German partnership in science and education is stronger than ever. It is one of the building blocks of our bilateral ties. We have almost 50,000 Indian students in Germany, the largest group of foreign students from any country. Indian scientists are contributing to our research landscape, with their talents, their ambitions, and their discoveries. It is pleasure to see this exchange grow so dynamically, from year to year.”

German Universities representatives to visit India

The Higher Education Policy Information visit in Hyderabad and New Delhi is from March 16 to 22. The visit will bring together 20 heads of German universities and representatives of institutions in Hyderabad and New Delhi for academic collaborations.

Additionally, the other highlight of the event was the Indo-German collaboration project at the PSG German School of Technology. The visits were aimed to improve bilateral relations, by focusing on educational goals and opportunities for research in higher education.

“Parallelly, representatives of German Universities of Applied Sciences gathered in Coimbatore for the inauguration of the German School of Technology at PSG College of Technology, a new academic venture financially supported by DAAD. This initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing India-Germany academic ties, particularly in the technological and engineering sectors, and will serve as a beacon of innovation and collaboration for future generations of students,” the DAAD statement said.

Moreover, the Indo-German Forum: Research, Innovation and Transfer will gather 250 representatives from German and Indian higher education and research institutions. The event held by DWIH New Delhi and DAAD regional office New Delhi will reinforce Indo-German ties.
