Active COVID-19 cases on IIMA campus rise to 98, movement restricted
In second wave of COVID-19 at IIM-A, 75 percent infected people are asymptomatic

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has been hit with the second wave as the number of active cases rose to 98 on Monday.
According to IIMA, about 75 percent of infected people are asymptomatic and 90 percent of those who are symptomatic have no symptoms after three-four days of medication.
Since March 12, IIMA has reported 170 coronavirus-positive cases on the campus. However, 72 people have recovered. The institute has also conducted a vaccination drive for over 550 community members with the support of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The institute has been conducting RT-PCR testing on campus since September 2020 with 4,899 tests done so far. A total of 2302 tests were conducted since March 2021.
COVID-19 restriction
Following the COVID-19 protocol, all students' movements have been restricted to move out of the campus. Physical meetings and guests from outside are also barred on IIMA Campus.
Those returning to campus from outstation are required to carry a COVID test done in the last 72 hours. Those who do not get the test report will be required to quarantine themselves for a week in their houses and take the RTC PCR test.
Other prominent institutions, like Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University , have issued new COVID-19 guidelines restricting the movement inside the campus.
While, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Delhi had stopped the return of students in March, IIT Bombay and IIT Jodhpur had tightened its COVID-19 prevention measures.
