After review with PM Modi, Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 exam 2021 has been cancelled and the CBSE Class 12 exam 2021 has been postponed. Education miniser Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 students will be evaluated based on an "objective criteria". CBSE Class 12 exams will be held after a review by CBSE on June 1.

The district head or the civil surgeon of Surajpur district in Chattisgarh who had issued an order stopping all doctors from taking leave, including those who had registered to write the NEET PG 2021, has withdrawn the order.
West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee said that a "decision in the interest of students" will be taken on the West Bengal Madhyamik exam date 2021. Chatterjee said: "Secondary and higher secondary examinations of the West Bengal board of education are set to be held in June with Covid-19 protocol in place. But nothing can be more urgent and important than the health of our children and those involved in the examination process. The government will certainly take a decision in the interest of students at the appropriate time considering the COVID-19 situation," he told reporters.
"In view of the COVID cases increasing exponentially, we appreciate the decision to cancel the Class 10 board examinations. Class 10th Board exams are not the school-leaving examinations marking the transition to higher learning institutions; the result of 10th Board helps students and teachers assess the stream choice and the subject allocation. In such a time when the pandemic has reached its peak, it is better to calculate their result on the basis of internal assessments and overall performance," said Sangeeta Hajela, principal, DPS Indirapuram, Delhi.
"For Class 12, June will not be a conducive month for holding exams as the students would be looking forward to their other competitive and career examinations such as NEET, BITSAT, CLAT, JEE Advanced and other both India and Abroad University applications. I am looking forward to a decision which will be helpful for the students," said Bijaya Kumar Sahoo who has been working on Adarsh Vidyalayas in Odisha and runs private schools. He added: "An early declaration of revised schedule will reduce the stress and anxiety of both students and parents, as this decision has left the students in a lot of dilemma and anxiety as to how to plan their way forward."

Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said: “The final exam of MBOSE for Class 12 would be from April 16. The government has decided that exams will go on as planned by Education Department,” according to a report by East Mojo.
Karnataka minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar, said that the Karnataka state Board Exam 2021 will begin on June 21 and that no decision has been taken considering that the CBSE 10th exam was cancelled.

Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that studetns will be allowed another chance after evaluating through CBSE's "objective criteria ". "Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams," said education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.

CBSE said: "The results of Class 10 Board will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. "The CISCE board will take a decision regarding its ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 examinations 2021 at the earliest and will inform all concerned afterwards," said CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon to Careers360.
A CBSE offical said that over 21.5 lakh students were registered for the CBSE 10th board exam and more than 14 lakh students were registered for CBSE 12th board exam.

Students who were disappointed with the decision to cancel the CBSE 10th exam 2021 said that protests were only from a small section of students.

Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani has demanded the Gujarat Board Exam 2021 to be postponed. Mevani said: "Even after CBSE has postponed & cancelled offline exams of Class 10 and 12, but Gujarat government is still adamant to risk the lives of students & their parents by forcing them to appear for exams offline."

The National Board of Examination (NBE) said that the NEET PG 2021 will be held as per schedule. NBE had released the NEET PG 2021 admit card on April 13. The clarification comes amid the news of CBSE exam cancelled 2021 and the demand from a certain section of students to postpone JEE Main 2021.
"I had prepared a lot for the board exams. If we are to be marked on the basis of internal assessment then that would not be fair," said Mayank Kumar, Class 10.

"Results should not be prepared based on internal assessment and pre-board," said Saumya Sharma, Class 10, Kendriya Vidyalaya.
"I had worked hard throughout the year and I was confident of scoring well. I was well prepared. Handful of students who weren’t ready for the examination started a protest on social media and it took all of us down," said Akhil Minhas, CBSE Class 10 student.
“With just 20 days left, we were all set to write the paper. I had practised so many sample papers, mock test, previous years’ question papers. I don’t know what was all that for. Looks like it was a complete waste of time.” Chaya Mishra, Kendriya Vidyalaya NER Class 10 student.

The situation on CBSE 12th exam date 2021 will be reviewed on June 1 by CBSE and fresh dates will be issued only after that, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said.

An online campaign petitions the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to cancel the TS Inter 2021 and the Telangana State Secondary School Certificate Examination (TS SSC Board) to cancel the Class 10 (SSC) exams. The online petition has received over 14,000 signatures.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will conduct classes online, the institution said in a set of guidelines released amid rising COVID-19 cases. JMI, however, has allowed research scholars to continue their academic work with the consent of their supervisors.
The administration of Surajpur, Chhattisgarh, has said that MBBS graduates whose period of service in the state is not over cannot write the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2021) because they will be need for COVID-duty. This move is being widely criticised by doctors on social media. The NEET PG admit card 2021 was released on April 13 and the exam is on April 18.

Delhi University has issued fresh guidelines to check the spread of COVID-19 in its colleges and departments. DU has instructed all colleges to move to online mode of teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar has said that the varsity will continue the current semester in online mode and the admission process may start by the end of April. Kumar addressed students through Facebook Live on the state of affairs in the campus in the wake of rising coronavirus cases and said that university will take a decision to allow offline classes in the next academic session after reviewing the pandemic situation.
The number of active cases at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad rose to 98 on Monday as it has has been hit with the second wave of pandemic. According to IIMA, about 75 percent of infected people are asymptomatic and 90 percent of those who are symptomatic have no symptoms after three-four days of medication.
Nearly 6 lakhs students are going to write CBSE board exams and close to 1 lakh teachers are assigned for conducting of the exams in various schools across India.

Sisodia tweeted: "Looking at the corona cases across the country, now is the time to cancel the CBSE board examinations. When the whole year of education is not done in the old way, then why is there the stubbornness to conduct the exam in the old way at the end of the year?"

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister of Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has ruled out holding examinations online. Speaking after a meeting in view of the spurt in COVID-19 cases, Narayan said there was a demand from a section of students and parents to conduct the tests online. "It will not be possible to conduct the online exams in the present system.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that over six lakh write the CBSE exam and that the exam centres could become COVID-19 hotspots. All secondary and senior secondary government schools in Delhi are affiliated to CBSE.
On Monday, through a fresh set of guidelines, Delhi University (DU) moved teaching for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) teaching online. Only researchers are now allowed to come to campus and that only with the permission of their heads of department.
Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar has said that the MP board exam 2021 will be conducted after May 30. "Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, it is decided to extend the exam dates. Also, schools for Class 1 to 8 students will be closed till June 15, 2021," as per the Times of India report.
While several publications, including the Times of India and the Indian Express, have reported that Centre is "mulling" changes to the schedule or format of the CBSE board exam 2021, there is no announcement yet on the CBSE official website.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will hold its thirty-fourth convocation in "virtual mode" due to the "rapid surge in COVID-19 cases". The convocation is scheduled for April 15 and more that 2,35,000 students will be awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that Maharashtra board exam 2021 will be postponed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. The minister also said that the state government will be writing to CBSE, ICSE and other boards to take a similar decision.
Many states such as Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Tripura have chosen to promote students without examinations.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday urged the central government to cancel CBSE board exams 2021. Kejriwal said that exam centres can become hotspots as the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 13,500 people in 24 hours.
