Agnipath Yojana: Agniveers with Class 10 certificates can get Class 12 certificates through NIOS, says Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

NEW DELHI: The Union government has initiated a special programme for enabling the soldiers selected under the Agnipath scheme who passed the Class 10 exam to continue their education and get the Class 12 certificate through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), informed the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan in a tweet. This initiative is being undertaken by the department of school education and literacy under the ministry of human resource development in consultation with the defence ministry.
"Welcome the forward-looking initiative of @DselEduMinistry to institute a special programme in consultation with @DefenceMinIndia for enabling 10th pass #Agniveers to further their education and obtain a 12th pass certificate through @niostwit," the minister tweeted.
The customised programme by @niostwit will be relevant to the spirit of the #Agnipath scheme.

This certificate will equip #Agniveer’s with relevant knowledge & skills and enable them to pursue jobs and higher education across India.

Through such initiatives, the Agnimath scheme aims to enable soldiers under the scheme, called Agniveers, to pursue jobs and higher education across India. Pradhan further said that the education ministry is committed to supporting the Agnipath yojana.
Agnipath scheme has been launched by the centre for the recruitment of soldiers to the Indin armed forces such as the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force on a short-term contractual basis. This scheme has been launched with the aim to cut down the huge defence expenses towards the salary and pension of the officials of the armed forces and also to manage a youthful profile for the Indian armed forces.
