NEW DELHI: The Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical campus has suspended three Kashmiri students for allegedly raising slogans and uploading status on Whatsapp in favour of Pakistan after the T20 international cricket match between India and Pakistan held recently where Pakistan defeated India, the college authorities told J&K students association.

Arsheed Yousuf, Inayat Altaf Sheikh of third year Civil Engineering batch and Showkat Ahmed Ganai studying in the fourth year of Civil Engineering have been suspended by the college as they were found involved in indiscipline act of posting status in favour of Pakistan after the India and Pakistan match held on October 24, a statement from RBS engineering technical campus said.

The hostel discipline committee took the decision to expel the students with immediate effect and will look further into the matter, the statement from the institute said.

The Agra Police has also tweeted that the Superintendent of Police, Agra informed that FIR has been registered against students.

“Superintendent of Police Nagar Agra Vikashk2u gave a byte in relation to the legal action being taken on the basis of the complaint received on the police station Jagdishpura regarding the anti-India remarks during the chat on WhatsApp app on the victory of the Pakistan team in the cricket match played between India-Pakistan,” Agra Police said in a social media post.

SP, Agra said that after Pakistan defeated India in the cricket match, some messages were circulated on Whatsapp which spoke against the country and a complaint has been received regarding the same in Jagdishpura station. The police is taking action on the basis of the complaint.

Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered two cases against MBBS students under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for celebrating Pakistan's victory over India in the match, as per a PTI report.

The cases have been registered against the students living in hostels at the Government Medical College in Karan Nagar here and SKIMS Soura, the officials said.

Videos of the celebrations of Pakistan's victory against arch-rivals India at many places in the valley went viral on social media. The match took place on Sunday in Dubai.
