AICTE alerts students, teachers to fake job offers citing council, education ministry

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has alerted higher educational technical institutions and their faculty members regarding fake job appointment letters being circulated online. As per the AICTE notice, all the fake job offers are being issued in the name of AICTE and the ministry of education (MoE).

The fake appointment letters are being sent from counterfeit email addresses resembling official domains. These fake letters have misled individuals into believing they have been offered job appointments. AICTE has said it only uses its official domain, aicte-India.org for any communication or information.

“It is for your information that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) uses only its own domain as aicte-India.org for any communication.” AICTE notice reads.

AICTE has requested faculty members to report any such incidents to the local cyber crime cell and computer emergency response team (CERT-In) at the earliest. AICTE has also advised remaining vigilant against such fraud and take action accordingly to ensure the safety and security of the academic community.

AICTE instructions

AICTE has instructed institutions to inform all students, faculty, and other staff members of these fraudulent activities and remain cautious while dealing with the job offers. AICTE recommends that all institutions verify and authenticate any job-related information through AICTE or MOE official channels. AICTE has directed to report any suspicious activity to the authorities or cyber crime division as soon as possible.

“Kindly display this circular on notice boards and circulate it widely among your institution's community. In view of the above, once again all the institutions are requested to respond, provide data to communication received only from the domain @aicte-india.org or @gov.in.” the AICTE notice adds.
