AICTE launches YASHASVI scheme 2024 to support 5,000 students; eligibility criteria

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the 'Young Achievers’ Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative (YASHASVI) scheme 2024' today, June 7. The scheme has been launched for Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering (CCEEM) degree and diploma students.

AICTE chairman TG Sitharam launched the YASHASVI scheme. The event was also attended by vice chairman Abhay Jere and member secretary Rajive Kumar.

The YASHASVI scheme will benefit 5,000 students annually, with 2,500 scholarships for degree students and 2,500 for diploma students. Degree students will receive Rs 18,000 per year for up to four years, while diploma students will receive Rs 12,000 per year for up to three years. Scholarships will be disbursed directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), as stated by AICTE.

Eligibility for the YASHASVI scholarship is merit-based. Degree-level students are selected based on their 12th grade qualifications, while diploma-level students are chosen based on their 10th grade results. To renew the scholarship annually, students must submit their passing certificate or marksheet and a letter from the head of their institution.

Applications for the YASHASVI scholarship will be invited once a year through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), the management said.

Sitharam highlighted the scheme's goal of promoting core engineering branches, underscoring their vital role in the growth of manufacturing industries. “The YASHASVI initiative is designed to support meritorious students pursuing technical education in the core branches of engineering. This scholarship aims to encourage talented students to enrol in civil, chemical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering programmes at AICTE-approved technical institutions,” he stated.
