AICTE: Set up National Academic Depository Cell in every institute

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked all technical institutions to upload academic awards, such as degrees and certificates, of their institution on Digilocker, under the National Academic Depository (NAD).

The AICTE has issued a circular asking institutions to appoint nodal officers and set up a dedicated NAD cell for the implementation of NAD and uploading all the academic details on their website. It has also suggested institutions to advise students to register on the NAD website.

In 2016, the Government of India had authorised the University Grant Commission (UGC) for implementation of the NAD project, under which academic institutions including various central

universities, state universities, private universities, school boards and others are uploading the academic awards on the NAD.

As per the AICTE, students are using NAD for accessing their academic awards online and entities seeking to verify these records are also using NAD.

Earlier, NAD was being implemented through NSOL Database Management Limited (NDML) and CDSL Ventures Limited (CVL), which was discontinued by the Ministry of Education in March this year. The AICTE has asked institutions to not use the previous mode of uploading data and de-link all applications currently using NAD portal through NDML and CVL and linking them through Digilocker only.
