NEW DELHI: The much-awaited law entrance exams AILET and CLAT 2020 will finally be conducted on September 26 and 28 respectively. AILET or All India Law Entrance Test is conducted for admissions to National Law University Delhi, whereas the Common Law Admission Test is conducted for admission to the 22 other national law universities.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct AILET 2020 tomorrow from 11 am - 12:30 pm. The entrance exam is conducted for admissions to BA LLB and LLM courses offered by the National Law University, Delhi. Around 19,900 candidates will appear in AILET which will be conducted at more than 100 test centres across the country.
The biggest law entrance exam, CLAT is the gateway to 22 national law universities. Around 78,000 students will appear for CLAT 2020 which is conducted by CLAT Consortium. The entrance exam will be conducted for admissions to 5-year integrated LLB and LLM courses The entrance exam will be conducted on Monday from 2 PM to 4 PM at more than 200 exam centres across the country.
Other law entrance exams in coming days
Starting tomorrow, law aspirants will remain busy this week in either appearing in the scheduled law entrance exams or waiting for answer keys and results.
Apart from CLAT and AILET, Allahabad University will conduct exams for admission to its BA LLB, 3-year LLB and LLM courses. The Law Faculty Admission Test (LFAT) of Allahabad University for BA LLB admission will be conducted on September 26, the same day when AILET will be conducted. On the other hand, the Law Admission Test (LAT) by Allahabad University for 3-year LLB admission, slated for September 28 will clash with CLAT.
For law aspirants of Andhra Pradesh, the online-based AP LAWCET/ PGLCET is scheduled to take place on October 1. The state-level law exam is conducted for admissions to various law colleges that offer 5-year LLB, 3-year LLB and LLM courses.

This year saw the premiere law institute, National Law School of India, Bangalore pulling out of CLAT 2020 in a rather hasty manner. The university also conducted a separate entrance exam, National Law Aptitude Test for around 27,000 candidates. However, the university’s decision of conducting a separate test backfired when the Supreme Court ordered it to go back to CLAT 2020 and cancel NLAT.
