Aligarh Muslim University's Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College has admits 190 MBBS students every year.

NEW DELHI: The newly inducted batch of 190 MBBS and BDS students of Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College (JLNMC) and ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University, today took the famous Hippocratic oath.
AMU Vice-Chancellor (VC), Mohammad Gulrez, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said the medical profession is the most revered occupation in the world and it brings the responsibility on a doctor to treat his/her patients with profound care and sympathy.

“The number of doctors in the country is much less in proportion to the population and the lack of resources for basic equipments in health facilities further aggravates the situation,” he added. It is matter of pride for AMU that the university has good number of MBBS and BDS seats, the VC added.He hoped that AMU medical professionals will serve the patients with utmost care and dedication and bring laurels to the JN Medical College and the university.
The guest of honour, B Srinivas, deputy director general, directorate of general health services, said the medical profession is perhaps the most sought after occupation in the country and the number of students appearing for the medical entrance is growing every year. About 22 lakh students have appeared in the NEET this year alone, he added.
Veena Maheshwari, dean, faculty of medicine, said, “White coat is a symbol of respect and the medical students need to behave with their patient with utmost politeness and affection, while maintaining personal dignity. Patients come to the hospital in pain and the affectionate behaviour and soft language of a doctors helps reduce their pain faster along with proper treatment.”
Principal of JN Medical College Haris M Khan said the college is one of the busiest hospitals in the country and every year lakhs of patients come for treatment.
