Alliance University Bangalore literary festival on May 20, 21

Alliance University claims that the event will see participation from speakers and performers in the areas of art, history, culture, politics, management, media, music, and much more.

NEW DELHI: The Alliance University will conduct the Alliance Literary Festival (ALF) at the central campus of the University in Bangalore on May 20 and 21, 2022. The even is being organised by the Alliance School of Liberal Arts.

"With a vision to be the hub of art, culture, science and ideas in India, Alliance University is presenting the biggest literary festival to be hosted by an educational institution in India," said a statement from the Alliance University. The university claims that the event will see participation from eminent personalities such as MP Shashi Tharoor, journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, novelist Anita Nair and Kannada writers such as Pratibha Nandakumar, Mamta Sagar, Vasudhendra, and performers such as singer Usha Uthup and stand-up comedian Kenny Sebastian among others.

Abhay G Chebbi, pro-chancellor of Alliance University, during a press conference held on May 6 to launch the Alliance Literary Festival, said that the Alliance University in its silver jubilee year is committed to valuing and protecting the culture and heritage of India and facilitating the emergence of new ideas and technologies, and bringing a change in conventional thinking.

Anubha Singh, vice-chancellor of Alliance University described the Alliance Literary Festival as "intellectually stimulating, aesthetically satiating, socially entertaining, cognitively enlightening and culturally enriching." She said that the fest will explore the “ideas for a brave new world” through authors, athletes, politicians, judges, and artists.

According to Anirudh Sridhar, who is the associate dean of the Alliance School of Liberal Arts, the Alliance Literary Festival is the full manifestation of Bengaluru’s growing appetite for art and culture. "The ALF redefines the ‘literary’, bringing together diplomats, entrepreneurs, judges, and journalists, and ‘festivals’, by not only celebrating but tackling the great topics of our age. ALF will be the forum for a clash of ideas and titans," he said.
