Amazon signs agreement with ministry of labour and employment to facilitate job opportunities on NCS portal

NEW DELHI: Amazon India signed an agreement with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to utilize the National Career Service (NCS) portal for facilitating the posting of available work opportunities at Amazon and its staffing agencies, today September 26. This will enable job seekers in India to – view work opportunities, help Amazon India and its staffing agencies post job openings, and source candidates from the NCS portal, said the official Amazon statement.

Job seekers who have registered on the NCS portal will be able to apply and look for relevant opportunities available at Amazon. It's the first e-commerce company to collaborate with the ministry for the NCS portal. The partnership aims to connect aspiring individuals with career prospects that match their skills and qualifications, the Amazon statement added.

The jobseekers registered on the NCS portal will be able to explore and apply for a wide variety of job roles across Amazon’s corporate offices and operations network that align with their skills and aspirations. Access to NCS’s extensive database will enable Amazon and its staffing agencies to source candidate profiles more effectively and hire them for roles across the country.

“Amazon and its staffing agencies can hire for a range of employee and associate cohorts including women and persons with disabilities. The collaboration is a significant step towards addressing the hiring challenges faced by both job seekers and job providers in India,” the Amazon statement added.

NCS portal for job seekers

As per Amazon's official statement, in FY 2024, the total number of registered job seekers on the NCS portal stood over at 87 lakh. The NCS has the potential to connect job seekers and providers by bridging the gap between supply and demand, particularly for the fast-growing e-commerce sector. Eventually leading to contribution to the overall economic development of the country.

It's important to spread awareness of open roles, improve job matching, and provide an easy way for jobseekers to search, especially for underserved communities. By listing work opportunities across Amazon on the National Career Service portal, jobseekers across India will have access to the various roles we offer.”

Speaking on the partnership, Mansukh Mandaviya, union minister of labour, employment and youth affairs and sports said: ‘’We commend Amazon India for becoming a valued partner in this endeavor and integrating with the National Career Service portal.”

“Amazon has created over 13 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The company directly employs over 1.2 lakh people across various roles. Every year, Amazon creates work opportunities during festive seasons.”

Recently, Amazon announced over 110,000 seasonal work opportunities in its operations network for job seekers. The jobs are available in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore etc. Notably, Amazon has hired thousands of women associates and close to 1900 persons with disabilities into its existing workforce. Amazon aims to provide diverse and inclusive work opportunities nationwide, the Amazon statement added.
