Ambedkar University Delhi likely to reopen campus on December 27: Report
Ambedkar University Delhi campuses are expected to reopen by December end in a phased manner.
NEW DELHI: Dr BR Ambedkar University Delhi is planning to reopen its campuses by December 27 in a phased manner. In the initial phase, students in small numbers will be able to access common facilities like labs and tutorial sessions, reported the Indian Express.
At present, practical sessions for final year students are being conducted in physical classrooms and labs. Theory sessions for all students are being conducted in virtual mode.
The Bhimrao Ambedkar University Delhi campuses remained closed on December 22. A notification regarding the closure after the convocation event was published on the university website. But the head of the division was instructed to attend to any directions from the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), Department of Higher Education (DHE), or competent authorities. The notification further permitted the continuation of any pre scheduled online meeting in consultation with members and approval from the Chair of the Committee.
An additional week will be required to schedule classes. Student groups have been insisting on the Ambedkar Delhi university reopening since the month of October.
“Dr Ambedkar University Delhi campuses do not possess the capacity to reopen the campuses fully as DDMA ordered to maintain 50 percent capacity in all classrooms. The kind of infrastructure required for calling back all students is not available in the Ambedkar University Delhi campuses,” a senior official reportedly said.
As many as 1,042 students were awarded degrees and diplomas in different fields of studies during the tenth convocation of the Dr B R Ambedkar University that took place on December 21. K Kasturirangan was invited as the chief guest for the Ambedkar University Delhi convocation programme. The former ISRO chief and head of the National Education Policy drafting committee spoke on the NEP and its features.
