'Values over AI': Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham inaugurates international law school at Coimbatore campus

Amrita International School of Law offers five-year integrated BA LLB (Honours) and BBA LLB (Honours) with specialisation in AI, environmental law, digital rights.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham opened the new law school at its Coimbatore campus. Union minister of state for law and justice and parliamentary affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurated the Amrita International School of Law. The international law school , launched in May, will offer integrated undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, experiential training through moot courts, and international collaborations and exposure.
Applications are open for five-year BA (Honours) LLB and BBA (Honours) LLB courses. The law school offers specialisation in AI and law, environmental law, digital rights, international arbitration and legal-tech integration.
In his address, the minister emphasised on values over artificial intelligence and said, “Artificial Intelligence cannot apply constitutional morality. As we enter an era of Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing, and the Internet of Things, it is important to remember that the ultimate deciding factor in our lives will always be the human element guided by values.”
The university invited chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court Justice K R Shriram as the guest of honour, while Madras High Court judge L Victoria Gowri delivered the keynote address. Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri, treasurer and trustee of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and member of the university’s executive council, delivered the benedictory address.
AISL moot court, courses
The ceremony began with the inauguration of AISL’s new moot court hall and academic facilities. AISL dean Anil G Variath welcomed the gathering, and vice-chancellor P Venkat Rangan presented mementos to the guests. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the registrar P Ajith Kumar.
The Attorney General of India, R Venkataramani, also shared a message noting that the long-pending vision of establishing AISL had now come to fruition.
Rooted in the vision of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), the Amrita International School of Law (AISL), Coimbatore, aims to offer world-class legal education combining professional expertise with ethics and compassion, Amriya Vishwa Vidyapeetham said in an official statement.
