Andhra Pradesh Budget 2022: Rs 3,500 crore for Nadu Nedu, to cover 16,000 schools

NEW DELHI: The Andhra Pradesh Government has allocated Rs 3,500 crore for the second phase of “Manabadi: Nadu, Nedu” scheme, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy announced during his budget speech.

More than 16,000 schools are set to be upgraded in the second phase of the scheme.

The Andhra Pradesh Government has also set aside Rs.6,107.36 crore Amma vodi scheme in which Rs 15,000 per year is given to mothers for spending on their children’s education.

The minister also said that the government has decided to distribute one English-Telugu dictionary to all students in the forthcoming academic session.

The government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had decided to convert all government-run schools to English medium. The matter is pending in the Supreme Court following appeals by activists.

A total of Rs. 24,624 crore has been set aside for school and intermediate Education for 2021-22.

AP Education Budget: Higher education

Higher education has been allocated Rs. 1,973.16 crore in the budget.

The finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy also announced a strategic plan for enhancement of gross enrolment ratio in higher education from 32.4 percent in 2018-19 to 70 percent by 2024-25 and 90 % by 2035.

Rs. 2,500 crore has been allocated for Jagananna Vidya Deevana and Rs.2,223.15 crore for Jagananna Vasathi Deevana during 2021-22.

These schemes provide universal access to higher education for students from financially weak families by providing full fee reimbursement and by covering their food and hostel expenses.
